Welcome New Editor: Jessie Gable
Jessie will be covering St. Andrews and Spring Valley Patches.
It's an exciting day for Spring Valley Patch and St. Andrews Patch.
A new editor is in town.
Jessie Gable, who has been working with Patch in Georgia for nearly two years, will serve as local editor in both communities.
We have been without a local editor for three months, and that has been very difficult on these sites. We have tried to keep you informed about community events, school happenings and crime, but we have fallen short. With Jessie's arrival today, I'm confident that that will change.
We hope to see you at the free business seminars we're putting on in Spring Valley on Tuesday or at an upcoming community event. As always, please tell us what you'd like to see on your site and how we can do a better job.
I asked Jessie to introduce herself to you. Here's what she had to say:
It's hard to write about yourself when you try. I'll be starting the days with some story of the zoo I live in, my rescue dogs, the endless projects I get myself into. But what do you tell people who are going to rely on you for news? I can't promise perfection. As a Patch veteran, I know that there will be days when I'm entirely too sleep deprived or God-forbid have the stomach flu. What I can promise you is that I will try every single day to make this site better and more helpful than it was the day before.
But that doesn't answer the question of what you (y'all) need to know about me. I guess that "y'al"l is where I should start. You'll be getting your news from another SEC fanatic--only I'm a 'Bama grad. And before you Google it, USC doesn't play Bama this year so we're good there. Since we're talking football, it's fitting to note that I'm passionate to a fault. I'm passionate about journalism, rescue pets, and inner city outreach. I'll bet you money that if you email me needing help in one of those realms, I'll be there to work. I've been researching projects to get involved with here, but I figure I'll wait to see what you all have to say.
I've vowed this is the year I become a runner instead of just lying about it. It got to the point earlier when I actually convinced myself that I do run to relieve stress. That's not true. I watch Big Bang Theory in my flannel pajamas to relieve stress. I run so I can eat dessert. But this year, I will run. (Hint: Comment with the good trails).
I've been an editor for Patch for almost two years now. I love every second and I can't wait to jump in here. If you don't like something, tell me. If you do like something, tell me. As a new person here, I'll need some direction in learning what is important.

Jessie and I worked together at the Chattanooga Times Free Press. She helped convince me to come to Patch and I helped convince her to come to South Carolina. She's gonna be amazing for our team!
