Update: Child, 4, Hospitalized After Being Shot by Stray Bullet

A 4-year-old was shot while watching television at a Columbia apartment complex.

Columbia Police say a 4-year-old child is in critical but stable condition after being shot by a stray bullet Monday night.

The incident happened near the Colony Apartments off West Beltline Boulevard around 8 p.m.

According to preliminary information, shots may have been fired between a group of people on foot and a silver Dodge charger, spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.

The child was shot while watching television, police said.

The girl is out of surgery and in recovery but is still listed in critical but stable condition.

Police have released surveillance video of the individuals and photos of the vehicle suspected in the shooting.
