Columbia Man Dies in Officer-involved Shooting

A 21-year-old armed man was killed Saturday night in an officer-involved shooting near Farrow Road, according to a report from WIS-TV.
The shooting occurred at a home in the 5800 block of Conveyor Street.
Police responded to the home after the man's mother called authorities and said her son — identified as Ajani Mitchell — had a gun, according to the report.

A spokeswoman for the Columbia Police Department said officers fired at Mitchell because they feared for their own lives and safety, according to the report.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
