Gingrich to Appear at Columbia Movie Screening

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista will sign books and DVDs after the screening of a movie they produced and hosted together.

Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista will be in Columbia Tuesday for a screening of "A City Upon a Hill," a movie produced and hosted by the couple.

The Columbia TEA Party is holding a screening at 6 p.m. at the Columbia Conference Center, 169 Laurelhurst Ave. Gingrich and his wife will sign books and DVDs after the screening. 

"A City Upon a Hill" is a documentary that explores "American exceptionalism.

"Exceptionalism for Americans is the belief that that the United States is in some way more open, more vigorous, more optimistic, than other nations are," the movie trailer explains. 

The film includes interviews with historians, experts and polticians, including Rep. Michele Bachmann and Donald Trump, according to the movie's website

"American exceptionalism is really a great term," Trump says in the trailer. "And it is something that is very special to us, and, by the way, we have to be very, very careful to protect it and cherish it beacause it could also disappear." 

"A City Upon a Hill" was produced in partnership with Citizens United Productions, a production company associated with the conservative advocacy group Citizens United. The film debuted in Washington, D.C. in April.

The screening is free and open to the public.
