Rep. Jim Clyburn Calls on Obama to Use 14th Amendment on Debt Ceiling

Appearing on the MSNBC program "The Daily Rundown," on Monday morning, Rep. James Clyburn (D-6) discussed a range of issues facing the nation with host Chuck Todd.

Clyburn addressed the debt ceiling, the gun control debate and the possibility of sequestration.

Clyburn said that he favors universal background checks on guns and a ban on high-volume magazine clips commonly found in automatic and semi-automatic weapons.

Regarding the debt ceiling, Clyburn said that President Obama ought to invoke the 14th Amendment. Section IV of the 14th Amendment (view it here) says the public debt of the United States shall not be questioned.
