An informational meeting on Richland County's proposed transportation penny sales tax will be held today at 6 p.m.
Richland County staff are campaigning across the county to educate voters about the November referendum to increase the county's sales tax to 8 percent.
The increase — a penny per dollar on most purchases for the next 22 years — is estimated to generate more than $1 billion to be used for the bus system, roadways, bike paths, and pedestrian greenway projects.
A complete list of projects can be found here.
The meeting will be held at Friarsgate Park, 1712 Chadford Road, Irmo.
If you miss tonight's meeting, the next session is scheduled for 6 pm. on Wednesday at the Richland County Public Library, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia.
