Tea Party President Resigns to Endorse Newt Gingrich

The Columbia TEA Party president announced his support for the former U.S. speaker of the house.

Columbia TEA Party President Allen Olson announced Tuesday that he is resigning to endorse former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich for president.

"There is only one candidate for president who is leading on what I believe are the underlying issues this country faces," Olson said in a statement. "Not only is this candidate talking about serious issues, he is providing real solutions."

Olson said he decided to support Gingrich because of his advocacy for the Strong America Now deficit-cutting plan.
