Two S.C. Republican Consultants Volunteer for Romney Campaign

The two experienced consultants will work for Romney leading up to the primary.

Two Columbia-area political consultants said they will work for the Mitt Romney campaign in South Carolina during the three remaining weeks leading up to the Jan. 21 primary, according to a report in The State.

Warren Tompkins and Luke Byars of First Tuesday Strategies, who both worked for Romney's S.C. campaign in 2008, said they will work on a volunteer basis.

Tompkins and Byars are both experienced Republican consultants. Tompkins worked for several candidates who all won the S.C. primary, including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George Bush. Byars was executive director of the S.C. Republican Party. He also served as state director for Senator Jim DeMint.
