The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is a South Carolina state agency that handles investigations for the governor, the attorney general, circuit solicitors and other law enforcement agencies. Local law enforcement agencies across the state may ask for SLED's assistance. SLED does not take requests for investigations from private citizens or organizations. SLED is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The SLED Forensic Laboratory is accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB).
