Rep. Jeff Duncan In the Spotlight On the Colbert Report

Congressman takes ribbing in stride.

Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-3) was the subject of a segment on Tuesday night's episode of the Colbert Report. The comedian referenced Duncan's recent efforts to curb the impact of the US Census Bureau. See the full segment above. Duncan acknowledged the mention on his Facebook page: "SC's own, Stephen Colbert had some fun at my expense last night over my Census Reform bill. He played up the left wing's conspiracy theory angle a bit much and down played the harassment aspect, but overall it was pretty funny. I particularly enjoyed his comparison to the census bureau as an annoying, drunk ex-boyfriend who keeps lingering around asking questions. I may borrow that line!" "Motorists this year are facing rising gas prices heading into the Memorial Day holiday," said Michael Green, a AAA spokesman, adding that Memorial Day 2013 would probably be the most expensive since 2011. In past years, prices have declined heading into early summer as oil refineries produced more gasoline to meet expected summer driving demand. This year, though, Midwest refineries haven't …

SC House Members Speak Out On Keystone XL Passage

Controversial pipeline passes House.

Three of South Carolina's six Republican House Members issued statements in response to the passage of a bill approving the Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline has been a dispute for several years. Should it be built, it would run from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Its proponents say it would create thousands of good-paying jobs and be a big step toward America becoming energy independent.
