Deputies Search for Kidnapping, Laptop Theft Suspects

A man was assaulted and kidnapped at a Broad River Road business Monday night.

Richland County deputies are looking for two men who assaulted another man, tied him up and forced him to tell them where computers were stored. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a business at 3005 Broad River Road, which is near St. Andrews Road, said Curtis Wilson, spokesperson for the Richland County Sheriff's Department. The men took three laptops and some tablets, Wilson said. They also took some of the victim's personal items. The two men will be charged with burglary, kidnapping and aggravated assalut, Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Deputies: Man Robbed in Rush's Parking Lot

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Richland County deputies are looking for two men who robbed another man Sunday night in the parking lot of Rush's on Broad River Road. The victim told deputies that two men approached him just before 10 p.m. One of the men hit him in the head with a weapon and knocked him unconcious. When the victim woke up, his wallet was missing, deputies say.  The victim was unable to provide descriptions of the two men.  Anyone with information about the incident should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Report: Man Shot Walking to Broad River Road Waffle House

The Richland County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate.

A man was shot in the lower body early Tuesday morning while walking to the Broad River Road Waffle House, according to a report in The State. The man heard gunfire around 12:30 a.m. as he was walking, and realized he had been shot.  The Richland County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the drive-by shooting. Teen Charged in Broad River Road Bojangles Robbery

The man was arrested in California and extradited to South Carolina where he is charged with armed robbery.

A man arrested in California during a domestic violence incident is charged in the armed robbery of Bojangles on Broad River Road, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.  Deputies say Maurice Davenport, 17, entered Bojangles at 2423 Broad River Road just before 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 26 and pretended to order food. He then pointed a handgun at the the employee and demanded money, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies say Davenport jumped over the counter, grabbed money from the register and fled on foot. Deputies Investigate Attempted Abduction of Teen Girl

An unidentified man tried to kidnap a 14-year-old who was walking home from school in the St. Andrews area.

Richland County deputies are investigating an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl near Broad River Road Wednesday afternoon. Police say an unidentified man chased a 14-year-old girl who refused to take a ride from the man, WLTX reports. The girl, who was walking home from school near the intersection of Broad River Road and Huffstetler Drive, was able to make it home safely, the report said.  Read more here.

Deputy Saved by Bulletproof Vest: 'It Felt Like a Bee Sting'

Richland County Deputy Sheila Aull was the first to arrive to a domestic violence call that left the 24-year-old suspect dead.

When a woman flagged down Deputy Sheila Aull near the CVS on Broad River Road last Tuesday, Aull had a bad feeling about what was to come. “She had blood all about her face,” said Aull, who has been patrolling the Broad River Road area with the Richland County Sheriff's Department since 2008. “She told me she had been assaulted.” Aull called for EMS, got a description of the suspect and started looking for him. I don't know what h/t means, but I assume it is good, and therefore I would second that motion. As someone who has never been shot at, I can only be in awe of someone who has been shot, and is back at work in a day. I haven't interacted all that often with Richland County Sheriff and Deputies over the years, but every time I have, they have been really professional and helpful. They deserve more.   more ›

RichCo Deputy Released from Hospital After Broad River Shootout

Richland County Sheriff Deputy Sheila Aull was shot in the chest Tuesday afternoon during a shootout between police and a man suspected of assaulted a woman on Broad River Road.

Sheila Aull, a Richland County Sheriff's Deputy who was injured during a shootout on Broad River Road, has been released from a local hospital, a sheriff's department spokesman said Wednesday. Aull, who was wearing a bullet proof vest, was shot in the chest by Adam Jurgen — a man deputies said was involved in a domestic violence incident prior to the shooting that occurred at the Farrington Apartments on Broad River Road Tuesday afternoon. Jurgen was killed after the deputies returned fire. Car Burned on Broad River Road

If you saw anything suspicious near Blue Coyote on Sunday, call authorities immediately.

Irmo firefighters responded to a call about a car on fire around 3 p.m. on Sunday behind the Blue Coyote, WIS reports.  The cause of the fire has not been determined. The car belonged to the Blue Coyote's owner.

6 Sought in Broad River Road Carjacking

Deputies are searching for six men who may be involved in a carjacking early Sunday morning.  A man reported a 2003 Ford Focus being stolen on Broad River Road, The State reports.  The carjacking allegedly happened during a brawl near the 2700 block of Broad River Road.
