Byrd, Haas Make Cut

Stanley, Glover and Mills finished after two rounds

Jonathan Byrd and Bill Haas move on to the third round at The Masters. Byrd, a native of Spring Valley, is four shots off the lead after shooting one under par at 71. He currently is tied for 19th. Fred Couples, 52, of Seattle and Jason Dufner, 35, of Alabama, are the current leaders at five under par for the tourney. Couples was five under on Saturday to tie Dufner for the lead. Couples won the 1992 Masters tournament. Haas of Greenville is currently tied for 33rd after shooting two over par. He is two over for the tourney, having shot par on Thursday. Clemson alums Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Lucas Glover of Greenville both missed the cut. Stanley, who was on target to make the cut, bogeyed six of the last 12 holes. Stanley …

Five Area Golfers Performing Well at The Masters

Bill Haas and Jonathan Byrd are tied in a group that features Tiger Woods.

Going into Friday rounds at Augusta National, five area golfers are still in the hunt. Bill Haas and Jonathan Byrd begin the second round at The Masters even par at 72, tied in a group that includes Tigers Woods. Anderson native and former Clemson standout Byrd was crowned co-champion of the annual Masters Par-3 tournament after rain and storms shortened the annual Wednesday tradition. Clemson alumns Lucas Glover and Kyle Stanley are both three over at 75. And in his first appearance, Clemson junior Corbin Mills is tied with Phil Mickelson, who has worn the green jacket three times. Want to know more? Check out the leaderboard.
