Sound Off: Did Romney Criticize 47 Percent of America?
Says they don't 'take responsibility and for their lives.'
On Monday, the progressive magazine Mother Jones released a series of audiotapes of former Massachusetts Gov. and Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney speaking at a fundraiser earlier this year. The tapes appear to have been made without Romney's knowledge. The comments getting the most attention (in attached video) show Romney talking about what he says are the 47 percent of electorate who will: "vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. The question is how long will we have these government programs? Our country is broke and we are going under with Obama. He has increased the nation debt more in three years and two months than Bush did in eight years. Ref. Bureau of Public Debt, Treasury Dept.
