Update: Disabled Pedestrian Killed by Dump Truck is Identified
An elderly man in wheelchair was struck and killed Monday morning in Five Points.
Update, June 27: An elderly man who was struck and killed by a commercial dump truck while operating his motorized wheelchair Monday in Five Points has been identified. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as 67-year-old George Jackson of Read Street in Columbia. He was struck in his wheelchair at the intersection of Harden Street and Greene Street just after 10:15 a.m. Monday. More here.
