A man was assaulted and kidnapped at a Broad River Road business Monday night.
Richland County deputies are looking for two men who assaulted another man, tied him up and forced him to tell them where computers were stored. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a business at 3005 Broad River Road, which is near St. Andrews Road, said Curtis Wilson, spokesperson for the Richland County Sheriff's Department. The men took three laptops and some tablets, Wilson said. They also took some of the victim's personal items. The two men will be charged with burglary, kidnapping and aggravated assalut, Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Brett Parker, an Irmo man on trial for double-murder, will be back in court Monday as week three of his trial starts. Dozens of deputies have testified so far about the crime scene, DNA evidence and technical evidence. The jury also heard testimony last week from family friends of Brett Parker's wife, Tammy Parker, and from the medical examiner who did the autopsies on Tammy Parker and Bryan Capnerhurst, Brett Parker's friend and gambling partner. Tammy Parker and Capnerhurst were found shot dead in the Parkers' Ascot Estates home in April 2012. Deputies responded to an aggravated assault at 4349 Crestlite Drive around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.
One person was stabbed and two others were hit during a fight at a Columbia home Thursday, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded to an aggravated assault at 4349 Crestlite Drive around 8:30 p.m., said Richland County spokesman Curtis Wilson. Between eight to 10 people were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical, Wilson said. One person was stabbed in the upper body and transported to a local hospital. The victim's condition is unknown. One male victim was struck in the upper body with an unknown object and one female victim was struck in the head. Deputies do have possible suspects, Wilson said. A lot of gunshot residue was found on the hands of Bryan Capnerhurst, one of the victims in the April 2012 shootings, according to a report in The State. The amount of residue found on his hands was "most consistent with being on the muzzle end of a firearm." Seven additional people were arrested in a bank scam that involved three local banks in Richland County.
Richland County Sheriff's investigators arrested seven additional people they say were involved in a local bank scam operation. Sheriff Leon Lott said in a release that family and friends convinced the suspects to turn themselves in after the department released information about the scam to the media. Investigators say the leaders of the operation would recruit others to take part in the scam by getting them to open up checking accounts at TD Bank, Wood Forest Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank. The scam cost the banks more than $20,000, the department said.
