Meet Patch: Tips on Surviving St. Pat's in Five Points

Find out what Columbia natives told me about getting through Columbia's biggest event intact.

Photos: St. Patrick's Day Cup Soccer Tournament

Dozens of soccer teams from the Southeast are in the Midlands this weekend.

The 13th Annual St. Patrick's Day Cup soccer challenge has lured dozens of youth teams from across the Southeast to Irmo and Northeast Columbia this weekend. We will post some of our photos here, but we'd love to see yours as well. The first photo is a trio of Lexington County Under-12 girls hamming it up while they waited out a looming thunderstorm that stopped action temporarily. The teams played at nearly a half-dozen spots in Lexington and Richland counties. The boys and girls teams included not only those from the Midlands, but also teams from throughout South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and elsewhere. The Cup concludes Sunday with championship rounds for the various age groups involved.
