CHS County Democratic Chair Tells Faithful Not to Support a Candidate

In an email reminding voters of Thursday's forum for Senate 42 candidates, Charleston County Chair Richard Hricik urged fellow Democrats not to support Maurice Washington, who is running in the primary.
 
The email said:

"**I ask that no Democrat in District 42 or otherwise support him in any way - partial text below: PRESS RELEASE AND DOCUMENTS HERE.

Less than 60 days ago, in the campaign to re-elect Mr. Washington as Board Trustee at South Carolina State University, the attached flyer was circulated by ex-Senator Robert Ford via email captioned "29 years faithful and dedicated Republican") in support of Mr. Washington's candidacy and legislative vote.  Quoting from that flyer:

 "Maurice Washington has been a faithful and dedicated Republican since 1984.  He has played a paramount role in the election of the Governor and other Constitutional Officers for the past 20 years.   Please vote to re-elect Maurice Washington and the two incumbent trustees."   4-27-2013 flyer circulated via email by Robert Ford.

This flyer includes photos of Mr. Washington with Republicans Glenn McConnell, Mark Sanford, Lindsey Graham & Bobby Harrell."

Thursday's forum is at Burke High School at 6:30 p.m. It is being hosted by the Charleston NAACP. The candidates scheduled to attend the forum are Emmanuel FergusonHerb Fielding, Marlon Kimpson, Margaret Rush, Bob Thompson and Washington.
